so you want to know
more about us. ok, I'll give it a try then, although there is nothing
spectacular to tell...
'loose leaves' catalyzes a long lasting love to and occupation with music. it simply grew over the years, the starting point being probably the day when we (eve and rupert) met back in 1995. Just a thought, without music and my acoustic we might have not met.
anyway, over the years both the ideas and the possibilities for diy-recording grew, which finally culminated in the formation of 'loose leaves' on a hot summer day of 2004. a considerable influence then as still now was a half year stay in “hardcore capital” Umeå, so it goes without saying that we also started our own label, 'strudlhofrecords' (more on that below). so from there on we started recording our ideas, captured on rainy sundays and tired workday-evenings. and since bits 'n bytes isn't really it we decided to release some of our songs as 'the fallen debris ep' in spring 2005.
well, but it's in the very nature of life that one can never finish something, right. so our lifes kept changing, impressions, people, influences, music came and went and now it's
2006, another handfull of songs reflects all that ...isn't change a straight line circle sometimes...

what the hell is 'strudlhof'?
i thought that you'll ask that. it's actually the name of a place in Vienna, Austria. it once was a big farm in the surroundings of the city, than the city just swallowed it and an artist moved into the farm, who was famous for his hospitality, and the foundation of the austrian school of arts (in order of appearance). did I mention that his name was 'strudel', or 'strudl'? fast forward to the beginning of the 20th century: 1910, in the heyday of 'jugendstil' or 'art nouveau' a staircase was constructed at this place by J.T. Jaeger, which is known henceforward as 'strudlhofstiege'.
this is also the title of a novel by h.v. doderer (published 1951), in which all of the protagonists are somehow linked together via this staircase. he describes it as “perfectly capturing the genius loci of the spot”.

ok, but why did you choose it as a label-name?
there is no particular reason, but then again there are a bunch of them: think of an architecture that is the perfect symbiosis between nature and
human architecture, that fits perfectly into it's environment...it'll be the strudlhofstiege. it's the 'genius loci', as doderer called it, i can't help but feel it. moreover it's a parable on what this city once was, the creative tension that fueled all the fascinating characters of that time, be it klimt, schiele, freud, schnitzler just to name the most famous. and last but not least, we walk this stairs almost every day since we live in the immediate neighborhood...which made it enough reasons to choose it as a label name.
how do you distribute your music?
you can listen to it/ download it via the www. however, if you're as old school as we are and still like
the haptic feeling of a CD, the artwork and stuff, just email us and we'll send you a copy.
is it free?
basically it's free, i.e. we do not ask you to pay money to listen to it. however, all the work is protected under the creative commons license,
